[Via Satellite 08-26-2015] Signalhorn has agreed to modernize the satellite communications equipment for the Welzheim Observatory in Germany. The site, intentionally distanced from major population centers, collects light from celestial bodies that would otherwise be washed out by light pollution. Due to its location, the remote site is reliant on satellite communications for certain tasks.

“Satellite technology is ideally suited to provide the required telecommunications means,” said Matthias Riede, chief technical officer at Signalhorn. “The satellite link provided by Signalhorn, including equipment and connectivity to the Stuttgart Planetarium, allows them to remotely control their Welzheim Observatory station. We are now committing to upgrade the existing legacy equipment to the latest technology to re-establish our passion for continuing universal observation.”

Signalhorn has been providing the astronomical observatory located in Welzheim, Germany with communication equipment and connectivity since 2008.
