Newtec announced that M7 Group has selected its broadcast equipment for the company’s new European Direct-to-Home (DTH) transmission sites. Newtec’s MCX7000 Multi-Carrier Satellite Gateway comes with the latest transmission standard Digital Video Broadcasting-Satellite-Second Generation Extension (DVB-S2X) on board, as well as Newtec’s own efficiency improvement technologies, allowing M7 Group to save bandwidth.

According to M7 Group, more efficient use of its existing capacity enables the company to add more channels on the same satellite transponders. Viewers receiving content via Media Broadcast Satellite GmbH’s uplink in Usingen, Germany, will benefit from the new platform, which is due to be installed later this year. According to Newtec, the MCX7000 saves power and rack space as well.

Newtec also held a demonstration of the technology this week at CommunicAsia, delivering a transmission of 4K Ultra-High Definition (UHD) TV using Measat’s Measat 3 satellite.
