      Newtec Makes Asia Appointment

      Newtec has appointed Mario Querner as its new vice president of Asia. Prior to joining Newtec, Querner worked as Head for South-East Asia at ECI Telecom, based in Singapore, and previously he worked for Technicolor, and Alcatel-Lucent. In this new role, Querner will lead the business activities for Newtec in Asia and the Pacific.

      SiriusXM Appoints Meyer as CEO

      Sirius XM Radio has announced the appointment of James Meyer as CEO, effective immediately. Meyer has served as the interim CEO since December. He previously worked as SiriusXM’s president of sales and operations since May 2004.

      Prior to joining SiriusXM, Meyer was president of Aegis Ventures, a general management consulting company, and provided consultant support for SiriusXM. Before Aegis, he held a number of senior management positions in consumer electronics firms such as Thomson, a worldwide leader in consumer electronics.

      SSTL Appoints New Telecoms Business Development Manager

      Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) has appointed Toru Yunoki as business development manager for its telecommunications products. In his new role, Yunoki is responsible for promoting SSTL’s range of telecommunications solutions, including Geostationary Minisatellite Platforms (GMP), subsystems and services.

      The GMP provides a platform that envelops a range of capabilities and requirements, both in terms of payload carrying capability and launch opportunity, with the objective to reduce the project specific non-recurrent engineering for each program.
