[Satellite TODAY 04-18-12] Satellite operator Intelsat and PCCW Global, an operating division of Hong Kong communications provider HKT, have signed a contract agreement to interconnect their Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks, the companies confirmed April 17.

      The agreement allows Intelsat and PCCW Global to offer networking services and access to the video neighborhoods to customers in Asia and other regions of the world using Intelsat’s satellite fleet and teleports serving North America and Europe.

      With interconnects in London, New York and Los Angeles, the agreement also will enable Intelsat’s customers to expand into new regions via PCCW Global’s network.

      “Intelsat can extend the reach of its IntelsatOne platform to locations in multiple Asian cities on the PCCW Global network, including Jakarta, Seoul, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, and European cities including Amsterdam, Moscow and Stockholm,” PCCW Global said in a company statement.
