Asiacell Expands Mobile Service Technology Footprint in Iraq

Private Iraqi telecommunications provider Asiacell is rolling out mobile, satellite backhaul-supported voice, broadband and SMS services across remote communities in Iraq via the Altobridge Lite-Site solution.

The solar-powered Altobridge Lite-Site aims to enable mobile network operators to bring mobile connectivity to remote communities. The solution is currently being deployed in previously unconnected communities in Northern Iraq. The unit also helps optimize customers’ budgets, minimize backhaul and accelerates Asiacell’s plans to expand its nationwide coverage in Iraq.
