[Satellite TODAY 03-15-10] Beam Communications will provide docking units for Inmarsat’s IsatPhone Pro handheld satellite telephone, Inmarsat announced March 10.
    Beam Communications will design, manufacture and distribute a range of specialized docking units Inmarsat’s first global handheld satellite phone, which is planned for launch in June. As well as a standard docking unit, Beam will produce vehicular and maritime versions and a version to accommodate indoor use.
    “Securing this contract with Inmarsat to develop IsatPhone Pro docking units is a strategic opportunity to diversify the Beam business and work with the world’s leading provider of mobile satellite communications,” Michael Capocchi, managing director of Beam Communications, said in a statement.
