Boeing, U.S. Air Force Receive U.S. Military Excellence Award for WGS

Boeing and the U.S. Air Force received a U.S. Department of Defense “Top 5” excellence award for systems engineering on the Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) program.

Members of the Air Force-Boeing WGS team accepted the award Oct. 28 at the National Defense Industry Association’s (NDIA) Systems Engineering Conference in San Diego.

The NDIA recognizes up to five defense programs that have demonstrated superior systems engineering practices that result in outstanding program performance.

Inmarsat Wins Large-Cap; Best Satellite Provider Awards

Inmarsat was named The Coutts & Co. Large-Cap Business of the Year at the National Business Awards 2009 in London.

A panel of judges said Inmarsat won the award because the company “demonstrated exceptional financial returns, strong growth, and innovation strategies.” Other finalists in the category included Pearson, Diageo, Morrisons and BSkyB.

Inmarsat also was named Best Satellite Provider by the South Asia, Middle East and North Africa (SAMENA) Telecommunications Council. The SAMENA Awards recognize companies for outstanding efforts in expanding telecoms services and addressing the concerns and needs of the sector in the region and beyond.
