Viasat Signs Estonian IPTV Distribution Deal

      [Satellite Today 10-12-09] Viasat Broadcasting signed a four-year distribution deal with the largest IPTV service provider in Estonia, Elion, Viasat said Oct. 9.

                  Under the agreement, Viasat will market and sell its pay-TV channel packages to Elion’s 175,000 broadband customers, 88,000 of which have IPTV. Viasat’s Estonian free-TV channels also will be available to Elion subscribers through the platform’s existing IPTV packages.

                  The agreement with Elion is similar to one signed with Sweden’s Telia in May 2008 and builds on previous IPTV agreements with 10 broadband network operators in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
