TerreStar Networks selected BroadSoft’s BroadWorks Voice-over-IP (VoIP) application to power its new satellite Smartphone mobile broadband network service, TerreStar announced.
In July, TerreStar announced it completed an end-to-end VoIP call over the TerreStar-1 satellite using BroadWorks to route the call over TerreStar’s all-IP core network.
TerreStar said it expects to launch the Smartphone service later this year and will market the device to rural communities and enterprises in need of complete coverage throughout the United States and Canada.
