[Satellite Today 06-17-09] Indonesia’s Square Informatix Ltd. has purchased an iDirect Series 15000 universal satellite hub, iDirect announced June 15.

    Square, the largest satellite service provider in Bangladesh, will use the hub to upgrade its existing satellite broadband service. With iDirect’s Evolution network in place, Square plans to migrate its customer base of financial institutions and other organizations to an enhanced network that will deliver data throughput improvements of up to 60 percent over existing services.

    “The bandwidth efficiency gains we’re able to attain by upgrading to iDirect’s Evolution platform allow us to stretch existing satellite capacity further to serve additional enterprise customers. The move to a next-generation Evolution network is a key part of our long-term growth strategy as the diverse market for satellite broadband in Bangladesh continues to increase,” Ahmed Bhuyian, general manager of Square, said in a statement.
