The Air Force gave Lockheed Martin Corp. [LMT] a $1.487 billion cost plus fixed fee contract to provide the third Space Based Infrared Systems Geosynchronous Earth Orbit satellite.

Lockheed also will provide the Highly Elliptical Earth Orbit payload 3 and modification of the Space Based Infrared Systems Ground systems to accommodate operations of three payloads simultaneously.
