[Satellite Today 08-01-08] NDS has won a new middleware contract with one of the emerging satellite pay-TV operators in Africa, the company announced July 31. Gateway Broadcast Services (GBS), already an NDS customer, has selected MediaHighway middleware and Electronic Program Guide (EPG) products from NDS to enhance its pay-TV satellite service for sub-Saharan Africa.
    GBS launched its GTV satellite pay-TV service in sub-saharan Africa in mid 2007 and aims to provide a low-cost pay-TV service to people across the region, the company said.
    Under the new agreement, MediaHighway middleware and EPG will feature in all new GTV set-top boxes (STBs), and will also be downloaded to all existing GTV STBs in a phased upgrade starting in Autumn 2008.
