[Satellite Today – 6-17-08] GlobeCast, like Thuraya, is also expanding its activities into the Asian region. The company, which recently announced a deal to acquire Pacific Century Matrix (PCM) in Hong Kong, said June 17 that it is to open a new open playout center in Singapore in October. GlobeCast Asia announced a deal to acquire PCM earlier in June.
    The main new solution to come from this launch will be GlobeCast Media Management. This is a solution for playout and origination, and will be the key product offered to broadcasters of all sizes from this new center – providing channels with use of, what GlobeCast claims is, market leading technology without the expensive investment.
The center will allow new channels to reach viewers using a fast and reliable solution and help international channels entering the market to create regionalised feeds and enhance their appeal to Asian audiences.
