India successfully tested an intermediate range (1,860 miles) Agni-III missile capable of striking Chinese targets such as Shanghai with a 1.5-ton payload, Arab News reported.
This was the third Agni-III test. The first test ended in failure.
Agni-III rose from a mobile launcher on Wheeler Island, and reached 8,948 mph and an apogee of 217.5 miles.
Now the missile is ready for use by armed forces, officials said.
