Huge Surge In Sunspots To Begin In March, Peak In 2012
A huge surge in highly charged sun spots eruptions could begin in just half a year and persist from next March until a peak in 2012, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The fear is that the solar storms could inflict damage on satellites, electrical power grids and more, to an extent even greater this time around than in past eruptions of vicious magnetic fields lashing out from the sun to strike Earth.
That’s because earthlings have become far more dependent on electronic gadgets such as cell phones, pagers, satellite TV and more.
There are 860 satellites orbiting Earth, and a severe solar radiation storm could cause damages ranging up to $30 billion, NASA researchers estimate.
