The Lockheed Martin team developing the U.S. Department of Defense’s Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) of next-generation narrowband tactical satellite communications has completed a series of reviews with the U.S. Navy ahead of schedule, Lockheed Martin announced June 20.

As prime contractor and systems engineering lead for the MUOS program, Lockheed Martin Space Systems is under contract to design, build and deploy its first two satellites and the associated ground system. With all options exercised, the contract for up to five satellites has a total potential value of $3.26 billion.
