XM Satellite Radio reported “experiencing a temporary degraded performance issue, which has affected some of our customers” on May 21.

The company said it expected to return to normal service levels later that evening.

Widespread reports over the Internet included claims of some listeners’being without service since noon EST.
 
At presstime, XM declined to specify the root of the degraded performance.
