[3/28/07] Raytheon Co. has earned an $11.1 million, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, the U.S. Department of Defense announced March 27.

Contracted by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in China Lake, Calif., the order is being made for research and development efforts for high-temperature development, material test and evaluation, radome conceptual design, and manufacturing and test planning of wideband radome technology for next-generation hypersonic vehicles.

The contract reportedly was competitively procured via a broad agency announcement, with five offers received. Work is expected for completion by May 2012.
