Premiere Sky To Launch Later This Year
Premiere, the German pay-TV operator, has created a new subsidiary, Premiere Sky, which will launch an eponymous programming package via satellite. Premiere Sky will hit the German market in September with an aim "to bundle current and new pay-TV channels that have not yet found a capable satellite marketing partner."
Daniel Kervan, a media equity analyst at UBS believed "the aim is to replicate the basic digital packages of Unity and KDG on cable where they have [about] 30 channels and charge around 5 or 10 euros ($6.59-$13.19) per month."
Wolfram Winter, a previous NBC Universal executive, will lead the operation as CEO, and expects 1 million subscribers for Premiere Sky by the end of 2010, when it will have between 70 million euros ($92.3 million) and 100 million euros ($131.81 million) in annual turnover potential.
