The first Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) geosynchronous orbit spacecraft platform has completed engineering thermal vacuum testing, Lockheed Martin announced Feb. 5.

SBIRS will provide early warning of missile launches and support other missions such as technical intelligence and battlespace characterization.
