Transport for London, the city’s transportation agency, on Oct. 9 unveiled a congestion-mitigation system which tracks traffic in the capital via satellite.

The agency says that satellite technology can help develop more flexible road-charging systems by tracking vehicles more accurately, and carried out tests to examine potential means of implementing the technology, which includes vehicle units and PDAs.

Details of the in-car trials are due to be released within the next week.
