Deimos Imaging SL, a subsidiary of Deimos Space SL, and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. contracted for an Earth-imaging satellite, Deimos, planned for launch in early 2008.

Built by Surrey, the satellite will form part of the Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC) to provide imagery for commercial applications, government use and rapid response following disasters.

The DMC is an international collaboration of member nations; through this contract, Spain joins Algeria, China, Nigeria, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Each consortium member owns and operates its own satellite while cooperating with the other members, allowing information generated onboard one satellite to be used by other members of the consortium.
