Raytheon Delivers First Excalibur GPS Rounds To U.S. Army

Raytheon Missile Systems and BAE Systems Bofors’ Excalibur team have delivered the first production Excalibur GPS-guided 155mm artillery rounds to the U.S. Army, Raytheon announced Oct. 9.

These projectiles, designed to increase the accuracy of the weapon, are the initial deliveries from the fiscal year 2005 contract. Deliveries from the fiscal year 2006 contract will begin in March. The next series of testing required to field the weapon also will be conducted in early 2007.
