The Union Cabinet approved the design, development and launch of the Gsat-8/Insat-4G communications satellite, the government of India announced Sept. 29. The spacecraft, which is scheduled to be in service within 24 months, will carry 18 Ku-band transponders to provide direct-to-home and VSAT services.
