Ondas Media, which plans to launch a satellite radio service in Europe by 2009, has named John Yates senior vice president of network engineering, Jason Jones vice president of broadcast operations and Martin Charman vice president of broadcast technology, the company announced Sept. 21.

Yates will have responsibility for the establishment of the Ondas space segment, terrestrial repeater network and systems engineering. Prior to joining Ondas, he worked as a satellite communications consultant for companies such as Inmarsat, Eutelsat, SES Astra and EADS Astrium.

Jones will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing all content delivery systems. Jones previously served as technical pre-sales manager for Harris Corp. covering transmission automation systems and also has held positions at BSkyB and BBC Television.

Charman will be responsible for the quality, transmission and technical standards associated with the delivery of content, and the planning and implementation of the terrestrial repeater network. Previously he was head of IT and engineering at JazzFM PLC.
