Spacenet Inc. introduced StarBand Nova satellite broadband Internet services for small-office and residential users, according to a Sept. 19 release.

StarBand Nova is aimed at independent users looking for reliable, professional-grade and affordably priced broadband satellite Internet connection. It uses VSAT technology to deliver faster speeds and improved service quality at reduced prices (with hardware pricing discounted up to 70 percent).

StarBand Nova services include two options: Nova Ultimate, for small office users, offers constant broadband Internet access at speeds of up to maps download and 256 kbps upload; Nova Pro, for residential users, offers speeds up to 1 Mbps download and 128 kbps upload. Both use the Gilat SkyEdge VSAT platform, and are available for an equipment purchase price of $299 plus dealer installation where applicable.
