Echostar Communications Corporation announced on Sept. 18 that Carl Vogel will oversee day-to-day operations as president for Dish Network, effective immediately, while continuing to serve as vice chairman of the company’s board of directors.

The company also appointed Bernard L. Han as chief financial officer effective September 28; he succeeds David J. Rayner, who will serve as executive vice president in charge of Echostar’s national installation and service network.

Vogel had most recently focused on the company’s financial and strategic initiatives, for which he will retain responsibility.

Before last year, Han was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Northwest Airlines.

Rayner joined Echostar in December 2004 as its chief financial officer. He will now lead the company’s national installation and service network.
