Globalstar Inc. announced Sept. 12 that it has partnered with software and communications company Ocens to launch a comprehensive suite of data services.

Now available to Globalstar’s U.S. subscribers, each of the Ocens Mail, Weathernet and Grib Explorer services provide e-mail transfer speeds and weather and ocean information services via Globalstar’s satellite network.

“The Ocens suite for Globalstar features improved data compression rates with effective data transfer speeds of up to 38 [kilobits per second], bringing significant potential cost savings to our customers,” Dennis Allen, senior vice president of U.S. sales and marketing for Globalstar, said in a statement.
