Daniel Goldberg has been named president and CEO of Telesat Canada, Canada’s largest satellite services provider, the company announced Sept. 11.

Goldberg — formerly president and CEO of SES New Skies — succeeds Larry Boisvert, who is retiring.

“Dan brings a unique skill set to Telesat both in terms of his success at building a business and in terms of his experience in corporate transactions,” said Michael Sabia, president and CEO of BCE Inc., Telesat’s parent company, in a statement. “He knows the satellite service industry, has produced exceptional operating results and is no stranger to the recapitalization process Telesat and BCE are working on. Dan is well qualified to be the architect of Telesat’s future.”

Boisvert, who has been with Telesat for 34 years and acted as president and CEO for the last 13, will remain a senior advisor at Telesat on loan to BCE.
