China will launch a new satellite for TV broadcasting and mobile communications next month, the Chinese government announced.

The satellite, known as Xinnuo 2, was given the green light to leave the factory on Sept. 4 after final checks by the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, as Sun Laiyan of the China National Space Administration was quoted.

In development for six years and with a lifespan of 15, the satellite is expected to provide live TV broadcasting services to the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
