Arianespace Places JCSAT-10, Syracuse 3B Into Orbit
Arianespace placed a commercial communications satellite and a French military communications satellite into orbit Aug. 11, the launch provider announced.
The Ariane 5 rocket lifted off from Kourou, French Guiana, at 6:15 EDT.
The JCSAT-10 satellite was built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems and is owned by JSAT Corp. The spacecraft will be located at 128 degrees East and provide direct-to-home and communications services to Japan, the Asia-Pacific region and Hawaii via 30 Ku- and 12 C-band transponders.
Syracuse 3B, built by Alcatel Alenia Space, is the second satellite in France’s Syracuse 3 system, which provides secure communications to the French military.
