Globalstar Inc. unveiled a modem to provide satellite connectivity for laptop computers and other data-only applications, the company announced Aug. 3.

The Skyhawk M1620 modem is designed to adapt to various applications that require basic communication interfaces as well as reduce the time needed to connect to the satellite.

The modem is designed and assembled by Blue Oceans Satellite Systems of St. John’s, Newfoundland.
