Thrane & Thrane has made a 550 million kroner ($94.1 million) offer to buy Nera ASA‘s mobile satellite communications operations, Nera announced Aug. 2.

Under the deal, Thrane & Thrane would pay 405 million kroner ($69.3 million) in cash for Nera Satcom and conduct a private placement of 472,000 new shares of Thrane & Thrane, which would give Nera ASA an 8 percent stake in Thrane & Thrane.

Nera ASA’s board has recommended the shareholders approve the deal, which would combine two providers of Inmarsat communications solutions. Based on 2005 figures, the combined entity had revenues of 1.5 billion kroner ($257 million). The deal is expected to be completed in the third quarter.
