Raytheon Co. and NASA completed data transfer and system compatibility testing for the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) Preparatory Project (NPP), the organizations announced July 24. The 12-day test exercise took place between Svalbard, Norway, and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., and paves the way for the NPOESS NPP mission, which is designed to test early versions of sensors as well as ground systems for the weather satellite program.
