DARPA Clears Falcon 1 For Launch

The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has approved the return of the Falcon 1 rocket to flight status, DARPA announced July 18.

Space Explorations Technology Corp.‘s (SpaceX) Falcon 1 rocket crashed a minute into its inaugural mission March 24. A government review board concluded a cracked nut allowed fuel to leak, triggering a fire resulting in fuel pressure loss, which shut down the engine.

SpaceX is working on modifications and plans to attempt another launch this fall.
