Shin Satellite engineers have transferred customers from Thaicom 3 to Thaicom 5, the company announced. Thaicom 5, placed into orbit in May from a successful Arianespace launch, is fitted with 25 C-band transponders and 14 Ku-band transponders to provide telecom and TV transmission services, including high-definition services, for the Asia-Pacific region.

Thaicom 3, launched in 1997, has been plagued by glitches in the power supplies of certain Ku-band transponders since 2003.
