SelecTV deployed Harmonic Inc.‘s Internet Protocol (IP)-based compression and multiplexing solutions for its direct-to-home satellite pay-TV service in Australia, Harmonic announced July 13.

SelecTV will use the Divicom Electra 1000 MPEG-2 variable bit-rate encoder with the DiviTrackIP to combine content and increasing their service carrying capacity and providing superior video quality.

The service will target selected ethnic and cultural market segments with language-specific, community-oriented channels.
