TV Vlaanderen, a new direct-to-home provider in Belgium, signed a deal with SES Astra for more satellite capacity at Astra’s orbital position at 19.2 degrees East. TV Vlaanderen hopes to make an impact in a market where cable operator Telenet dominates the pay-TV landscape. Belgacom, which launched Internet Protocol (IP) TV service in 2005, also is a competitor in the market.
TV Vlaanderen’s channel bouquet features Flemish public broadcaster VRT and all Flemish private channels, including VTM, Kanaal2, JIM, VT4, VIJFtv, Vitaya and KanaalZ.
