GPSFlight will provide weather and atmospheric data for UP Aerospace Inc. for the inaugural launch of the Spaceloft XL rocket, scheduled to take place in New Mexico this summer, GPSFlight announced June 13.

The mission will use GPSFlight’s STXe telemetry tracking modules, which will be sent to the upper atmosphere in weather balloons, and GPS-Team tracking software to gather data about atmospheric conditions. The tracking modules transmit WAAS GPS, barometric pressure, temperature and other information up to 10 times per second for distances up to 60 miles. The data will be sent to launch control computers to create an atmospheric profile for the mission.

UP Aerospace provides sub-orbital launch services for researchers.
