Symmetricom Inc. will supply its master reference oscillator for the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite program under a subcontract from prime contractor Lockheed Martin, Symmetricom announced June 12.

Symmetricom is scheduled to deliver an engineering model of its master reference oscillator early this summer and qualification models in March 2007. Delivery of the first flight models is scheduled for August 2007.

MUOS is a next-generation narrowband tactical satellite communications system intended to provide improved communications for U.S. forces on the move. Lockheed Martin Space Systems is the prime contractor and systems integrator for the program, and the first spacecraft is scheduled to be handed over to the U.S. Navy in 2010.
