Falcon Communications Inc. signed an agreement with Intelsat to distribute the satellite operator’s Ampiage service, Intelsat announced June 5. Falcon will distribute Ampiage to the about 800 U.S. telcos the company serves
Intelsat introduced the satellite-based content delivery and management service in April and expects Ampiage to be commercially available this summer. The service targets telcos looking to enter the IPTV markets and also is designed for use by multiple system operators in North America seeking to upgrade and convert their video streams from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4.
