Vocati Enterprises unveiled June 1 a new satellite service designed to keep business operating after a hurricane. The Systems for Automated Failure Recovery was developed in conjunction with GMPCS Personal Communications Inc. and Merlin Satcom Applications.

The service uses a power generator to enable businesses to use their phone and e-mail to contact customers, receive voice mail and send their employees updated messages.

Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) service enables SAFR to connect to the Internet and intranet using notebook-sized satellite terminals.

GMPCS and Merlin will maintain ready-to-ship inventories of all the BGAN products and offer around-the-clock operational and technical assistance.
