Boeing Co. completed tests on the structural design and mechanical integrity of the first of three Wideband Gapfiller Satellites the company is manufacturing for the U.S. Air Force, Boeing announced June 1.

The vibration and acoustic tests, conducted at Boeing’s Satellite Development Center in El Segundo, Calif., were designed to make sure the satellite platform would withstand the stresses of ground transportation and launch.

The first Wideband Gapfiller satellite is scheduled to be launched in June 2007.
