Gilat Satellite Networks won a key remote education contract in Latin America, as the VSAT provider was selected by Integradores de Tecnologia to provide an 8,500-site Skyedge network that will serve 17,500 Mexican public school classrooms. The network is being funded as part of the Mexican Ministry of Education‘s (SEP) Enciclomedia program.

Earlier this year, Gilat was selected by a consortium of leading Mexican technology firms to provide a network of nearly 7,000 VSATs. When combined with the education network, this brings the total number of Mexican classrooms to be connected via Skyedge to about 33,000, Gilat said.
