L-3 Communications‘ Narda Satellite Networks division received a contract to provide 174 Ground Multiband Terminals to the U.S. military, L-3 announced May 1.

The systems are designed to operate in C-, Ka-, Ku- and X-band. Each satellite communications system is contained in transit cases and is capable of repeated deployments around the globe.

The $385 million contract, awarded by the Electronics System Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., includes spares and component kits. The Milsatcom Joint Program Office at Space and Missiles Center, Los Angeles Air Force Station, Calif., is the Program Management Activity.

Narda awarded Andew Corp. a subcontract to develop a 3.9-meter flyaway antenna, the first for Andrew’s new military satellite communications product line.
