Asian commercial satellite operator Shin Satellite PCL has reached an agreement with China Satellite Communications Corp. (China Satcom) to launch IPStar broadband services in China.

The first gateway in Beijing will be available for service in May. Additional gateways will later be available in Shanghai and Guangzhou.

There are currently about 64 million broadband users in the China market and that number is expected to reach 100 million, Shin said. The company expects IPStar to attract about 1 million user in China.
