SES Astra has acquired all minority shareholdings in European satellite broadband operator Satlynx, bringing SES Astra’s ownership from 77 percent to 100 percent.

Satlynx, a joint venture between Israel-based satellite networking systems company Gilat, and Alcatel Alenia Space, was created in 2002. In April 2005, SES Astra increased its shareholding in Satlynx from 41 percent to 77 percent, taking full operational control of the company.

“Satlynx is a leader in its market and an important asset in our strategy to offer satellite based solutions and services also to enterprises and institutions,” Ferdinand Kayser, SES Astra’s CEO, said in a statement.
