Nera will sell its DVB-RCS business to STM Group USA for about $2.5 million, Nera announced April 3. The transfer includes the Nera Satlink series and all intellectual property rights attributed to these products, as well as inventory, supply agreements, customer portfolio and key personnel.

“Despite having a good product, Nera has experienced challenges in reaching a sustainable business volume within the VSAT mass market,” Bjørn Olafsson, CEO of Nera ASA, said in a statement. “STM has the experience, sales network and customer portfolio that can lift Nera’s DVB-RCS business further.”

STM, a privately owned VSAT company based in Irvine, Calif., plans to continue to operate the business in Norway. “We consider DVB-RCS and Nera’s leading technology created by very talented staff as a foundation for future product innovation that will serve our current and new customers,” Emil Youssefzadeh, CEO of STM, said.
