BAE-Surrey Satellite To Offer Small Satellite Technology In United States
BAE Systems signed a memorandum of agreement with U.K.-based Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL) to market the technology firm’s small satellite technology and processes to customers in the United States, BAE announced April 3.
SSTL designs, manufactures and operates low-cost small satellites that can be developed for a variety of civil and military missions. The partnership between SSTL and BAE’s Space Systems and Electronics will target NASA and the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as other government and commercial customers.
“The partnership combines SSTL’s small-satellite experience with BAE Systems’ advanced space electronics and ground systems capabilities,” Leigh Coolidge, director of BAE Systems Small Satellite Initiative, said in a statement. “Together, we will provide U.S. government customers with an end-to-end solution — from concept of operations to on-orbit mission operations to information management.”
