Space Explorations Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) announced March 17 that Jim Maser will join the company as president and COO. Maser spent most of his career with Boeing, most recently serving as president and general manager of Sea Launch.

“Jim brings a wealth of capability and experience to the SpaceX team,” Elon Musk, the company’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “His joining is also a tremendous endorsement of SpaceX, our accomplishments to date and our vision for the future.”

SpaceX hopes to perform the inaugural launch of its Falcon 1 rocket by March 25. The mission from Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands will carry the U.S. Air Force Academy‘s Falconsat-2 into orbit.
